MONDAYS - READER'S THEATRE
Reader's Theatre is an integrated approach for involving students in reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities.

Readers Theatere helps to...

  • develop fluency through repeated exposure to text.
  • increase comprehension.
  • integrate reading, writing, speaking, listening in an authentic context.
  • engage students.
  • increase reading motivation.
  • create confidence and improve the self-image of students.
  • provide a real purpose for reading.
  • provide opportunities for cooperative learning.
TUESDAYS - THE ART OF IMPROVISATION
Learning improv helps to “re-train” the brain to actively listen, communicate verbally and non-verbally, be open to ideas, respond quickly in the moment, use imagination, collaborate, effectively use emotions, be more engaging, be flexible to change and be more hyperaware of what’s going on around us. All of these skills are necessary for effective interpersonal communication skills.
A “Safe” Space: We create a learning space that is free of judgment in which all students are supported, respected and encouraged by the whole group. As a result of this, their confidence levels increase as does their abilities to solve problems and act on decisions.

A "Sensory" Experience: Improvisational activities provide a multi-sensory experience. Students learn from the visual stimulation of observing how other students interpret and express emotions. Auditory learning also takes place through listening to the other students’ voices during our activities.

Spontaneity and Problem Solving: Guiding students through improvisational activities help them to think “outside of the box” by allowing them to use their imaginations to create whatever they want. When given the space to explore they will naturally feel free to solve problems in unconventional ways through trial by error.

WEDNESDAYS - MAKE - UP MANIA
Let your imagination run wild as you explore the science and artistry that is stage and movie makeup!
Cosmetics will be your paint and the human form will be your canvas as you let your creativity take flight!
Students will be taught the fundamentals of makeup, color theory and coordination, highlighting, shading, and much, much more.

Nourishing the imagination, collaborating with others, critical thinking, knowledge of art, science and history, development of problem solving and fine motor skills are just some of the benefits our students get from learning about makeup and special effects. But most importantly, it’s FUN!
